We are looking for a Night Repair and Maintenance Supervisor to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.

As a Repair and Maintenance (R&M) Night Supervisor, your role is to provide technical, problem-solving expert support both on-site and remotely to ensure quality repairs are undertaken on the water network.

What will you be doing as a Night Repair and Maintenance Supervisor?

Your role will work with and coach repair and maintenance teams to deliver for customers in a right-first-time, effective way of working, always keeping a priority focus on health and safety.

We will be recruiting Repair & Maintenance Night Supervisor across the Thames Valley

You would be working Sunday – Thursday 21:00 – 07:00 – 45-hour week
  • You will support the on-site delivery of repair and maintenance activities within SLA to achieve business and customer outcomes in the most timely, safe and cost-effective way.
  • Oversee more complex repairs on-site, for example, deep excavations and provide on-site validation of permits to break ground.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to help teams comply with health and safety through all aspects of the repair.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced team members to develop their technical skills and ability to operate in a compliant, safe and effective manner.
  • Engage with our customers and councils to get work delivered in a timely manner with minimal disruption.
  • Work to reduce leakage and the number and length of service interruptions in your area and support our ability to ensure we are always ready to respond.
  • Undertake competency assessments of the R&M teams to ensure H&S compliance, and quality of work and to support ongoing skills development.
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
  • Manage operational frontline teams for repair and maintenance activities, with a strong focus on health & safety and quality standards.
  • Have a good understanding of water networks.
  • Utilise analytical and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Engage with customers, councils and wider stakeholder relationships to help work get delivered in a timely manner with minimal disruption.
  • Champion change through a passion for continuous improvement, promoting best practice ways of working and sharing local knowledge.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to coach and optimise the performance of your frontline teams.
  • Effectively manage operational risk through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be IT literate as all repair and maintenance work is managed electronically.
  • Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving licence is essential.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have, however, we will provide full training:
  • Street works qualification. (NRSWA)/SMSTS
  • Service Avoidance L2.
  • Asbestos and COSHH awareness.
  • Abrasive wheels and manual handling training, as well as Confined Space awareness, are desirable.
