Van Pack Drainage Engineer

We are looking for a Van Pack Drainage Engineer to join our Utility Division on the Thames Water contract, delivering solutions to waste‑water network and drainage problems.

Position: Van Pack Drainage Engineer

Location: Thames Water Iver South, Colnbrook, Berkshire

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours plus every other weekend (working both early mornings and late evenings)

Salary: OTE £37,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on‑call allowance, bonuses)

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to residential sites in a van, operating a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
  • Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
  • Deliver good customer service.
  • Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • Comply with health and safety responsibilities, i.e. PPE / safe site set‑ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
  • Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE and utilising the lone worker system.
  • Dynamically risk‑assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
  • Liaise with the client regarding process and any updates.
  • Provide support to your colleagues.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
  • Report any defects or malfunctions.
  • Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
  • Any other reasonable ad‑hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Hard working, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Experience with high‑pressure jetting equipment useful but not essential.
  • Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA, Confined Spaces) an advantage.
  • Full UK driver’s licence; vehicles are manual.
