We’re recruiting a high-calibre Stock Manager to join a market-leading food and drink wholesaler and distributor, operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with significant levels of date-sensitive stock.
This is a critical leadership role with real commercial impact, ensuring stock accuracy, availability, compliance, and cost control while leading and developing specialist stock teams.
The RoleAs Stock Manager, you’ll lead the Stock, PI, and Goods In operations, ensuring stock integrity across the depot while delivering against financial, service, and compliance targets.
You’ll work closely with Warehouse, Transport, Sales, Finance, and Central Replenishment teams to reduce stock loss, improve availability, and drive continuous improvement, all through strong leadership and data-led decision making.
Key Responsibilities of the Stock Manager- Lead Stock, PI, and Goods In teams
- Own and manage PI cycles, stock adjustments, and audit compliance
- Monitor and control date-sensitive stock, ghost stock, quarantine processes, and stock loss
- Deliver accurate investigation and root‑cause analysis on customer credits and discrepancies
- Ensure inbound deliveries are booked and processed accurately, safely, and on time
- Drive availability while maintaining stock holding and loss targets
- Analyse data from WMS and reporting systems to proactively identify risk and opportunity
- Lead performance through engagement, coaching, and clear KPI ownership
- Ensure full compliance with H&S, QHSE, sustainability, and food safety standards
- Partner with senior stakeholders to influence change and improve operational outcomes
- Proven experience managing large, date-sensitive stock holdings in a warehouse or distribution environment
- Strong background in food, drink, or multi-temperature logistics (highly desirable)
- Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of stock value, loss, and availability
- Confident people leader with experience developing and motivating specialist teams
- Data-driven, organised, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Strong communicator, able to influence peers and senior stakeholders
- Calm, decisive, and resilient in a fast-moving operation
- £45,000 – £50,000 basic salary
