Nuvonic has an exciting opening available for a Production Manager, based at their main manufacturing site in Slough.

The Role

The position, based in Slough UK, will be working as part of the senior team within the operations function. Overseeing a production team of up to 25 people, responsible for producing Electrical Control Cabinets, Pressurised Water Vessels and testing all manufactured equipment to ensure requirements are met. There is an emphasis on team development, with people, quality, and sustainability at the center of everything.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

  • Plan, organise, and manage daily manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor production performance against key targets including output, efficiency, and quality.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of labour, equipment, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Coordinate production activities across assembly, testing, and final inspection departments.
  • Develop and implement production plans to support sales forecasts and project requirements.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop production team leaders, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.
  • Foster a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and succession planning within the production department.

Quality Management

  • Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production and product issues.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality concerns.
  • Monitor and reduce non-conformance, rework, and scrap levels.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimise manufacturing processes.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process validation activities.

Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions where required.

Supply Chain & Inventory Coordination

  • Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability.

Technical & Engineering Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering teams on product design improvements and manufacturability.
  • Provide manufacturing input for product development and engineering change processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Production efficiency and labour utilisation.
  • Quality performance and defect rates.
  • Health and safety metrics.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a production leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production planning.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with in industrial equipment, electronics, electrical assembly, or capital equipment manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification.
