Position Overview We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder / Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our production team. You will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding high-quality thin-gauge sheet metal assemblies (primarily stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel). The ideal candidate has precise torch control, strong blueprint-reading skills, and expert knowledge of heat management to prevent burn-through or warping on thin materials.
Key Responsibilities TIG Welding:
Perform high-precision GTAW/TIG welding on thin-gauge sheet metal (typically 0.5mm to 3mm / 24 ga to 11 ga) in stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. Fabrication & Assembly:
Set up, clamp, tack-weld, and assemble components according to engineering blueprints, schematic drawings, and welding symbols. Material Prep & Finishing:
Degrease, clean, brush, and prep joints prior to welding; dress, grind, blend, and finish completed welds to specified surface standards (e.g., cosmetic/architectural finishes or sanitary specs). Machine Setups:
Adjust TIG machine parameters (amperage, high frequency, pulse, shielding gas flow, tungsten selection) tailored to material type and thickness. Quality & Tolerance Control:
Inspect finished welds for penetration, porosity, undercut, and alignment using precision measuring instruments. Maintain strict tolerance limits. Safety & Maintenance:
Maintain a clean workspace, perform daily preventative maintenance on welding torches and equipment, and adhere to all OSHA/PPE safety protocols.
