Job Overview 6 Month Full-Time Secondment – Maternity Education & Practice Development Wexham Park Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and passionate professional to lead on the development of maternity education and training at Wexham Park Hospital.

This 6 month full-time secondment role will play a key part in identifying, shaping, and delivering high-quality training to meet the evolving needs of maternity staff. The post holder will facilitate both in-house and external learning opportunities, ensuring education is innovative, evidence-based, and aligned with service priorities.

You will take a Trust-wide lead in the development and delivery of maternity education programmes, working collaboratively with:

• The Deputy Director of Clinical Education & Practice Development
• The Cross-Site Lead Midwife for Practice Development and Education
• The Midwifery Practice Development Team

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence practice, support workforce development, and contribute to continuous improvement in maternity care across the Trust.

• To lead in the identification of practice development requirements and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in implementation of changes in practice development.
• To function as a practicing professional and participate in direct patient care in line with NMC code.
• Standards are set to ensure preceptors/ mentors or work-based supervisors are appropriately trained and developed to undertake the role.
• To initiate the development of protocols and guidelines for midwifery practice.
• To participate in the development of clinical practice and research in line with the trust strategy.
• To provide adequate induction for all new starters to the trust in conjunction with the Trust Values and professional requirements.

• Lead the identification and implementation of maternity training needs.
• Develop and deliver high-quality educational programmes.
• Work collaboratively across sites and disciplines.
• Make a meaningful impact on staff development and patient care.
