EC Teacher [6-12 Inclusion] – Neuse Charter School
Base Pay Range$40,000 – $60,000 per year
Position DescriptionResponsible for the instruction and care of assigned students, creating classroom environments conducive to effective learning, while maintaining commitment to NCS’s mission, vision, curriculum standards, and instructional excellence.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstructional Leadership
- Design and deliver instructional lessons that meet curriculum requirements adopted by the Board of Directors.
- Provide planned learning experiences that encourage and motivate students, utilize best practices, and are developmentally appropriate.
- Develop and submit current lesson plans and instructional materials for personalized and small‑group instruction.
- Select and use appropriate instructional materials, aids, and supplies to adapt instruction for diverse learners.
- Identify, record, and reflect on student needs and collaborate with the professional learning community (PLC) to address learning challenges.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to deliver and manage learning experiences for all students.
- Pursue alternative solutions to enhance academic, social, and emotional growth opportunities.
- Use relevant technology to support and enhance instruction.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior aligned with NCS’s behavior management plans.
- Create a functional, engaging classroom environment for learning and curriculum alignment.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, parent volunteers, substitutes, and other paraprofessionals.
Student Assessment
- Prepare and administer formative, summative, and performance‑based assessments.
- Administer standardized assessments, analyze results, and support student growth.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and communicate with parents as required.
Operations
- Communicate and collaborate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student learning.
- Participate in curriculum mapping, lesson plan development, training, and professional development activities.
- Participate in grade‑level and department PLC(s) and maintain proper stewardship of school resources.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities.
- Encourage parent and community involvement and respond promptly to inquiries.
Professional Development
- Participate in required in‑service trainings and pursue additional learning opportunities.
- Share innovations and best practices with colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- NC License to teach Exceptional Children (EC). (Applicable to EC Teacher positions.)
- Valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License.
- Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction or related field.
- Experience with competency‑based instructional and assessment programs.
- Experience teaching students in the assigned grade area.
- Knowledge of state and federal educational laws.
- Ability to assess student needs and develop effective programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power School, and related technology.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
- Problem‑solving and initiative in improving programs and systems.
- Normal periods of sitting and standing in a classroom.
- Extended periods of standing and walking on campus.
- Reaching with hands and operating handheld or desktop office equipment.
- Lifting/pushing objects up to 20 lbs regularly.
- Assisting students with tasks such as eating, changing diapers, and moving between classrooms.
- Assisting other staff in lifting/moving students up to 100 lbs (for EC positions).
- Normal vision and hearing.
