SummaryThe purpose of the position is to plan, develop, and teach courses to prepare students for the workforce with updated skills in the office technology areas. Primary emphasis will be in the Medical Office Administration area with classes in Office Administration. Employees in this classification perform instructional work. The position is responsible for teaching classes and instructing students; preparing lesson plans;
preparing tests; grading papers; and advising students. Performs related work as required.
- Teaches classes and instructs students.
- Prepares lesson plans; writes course overviews and outlines.
- Prepares tests, grades papers, averages grades, and prepares grade reports.
- Prepares attendance reports; responds to evaluation reports.
- Learns new computer software, including those specific to Medical Office environment. Keeps abreast of new technology and procedures in Medical Office Administration.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education- Minimum:
Associate's degree in business education, medical office administration, or closely related field. - Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in business education, health care management, or closely related field.
- Minimum:
Two years of experience in teaching college level courses or equivalent experience in Medical Office Administration. - Preferred:
Two years of teaching Medical Office Administration courses at the college level with a certified professional coder or equivalent certification; experience teaching medical terminology, coding, billing and insurance, electronic health records and patient accounting software.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have attained intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Communication SkillsAbility to read and interpret any pertinent course materials such as syllabi, course/homework instructions or any educational information that will assist in the student's learning experience. Ability to write daily reports and email correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with students or employees of organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and be able to explain/interpret to students.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
