UNC Johnston has an innovative and efficient surgical program. We perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures on adult and pediatric populations. The Nurses and Surgical Technologists provide intra‑operative care for a variety of service lines including Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, General, GYN, Robotics, Neuro, ENT, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Endoscopy.

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

• Education – participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self, attends education programs, uses patient education materials, assesses readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of Care – identifies expected patient outcomes, seeks guidance, participates in interdisciplinary discussions, communicates relevant information.
• Implementation – demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, performs bedside testing, utilizes organization policies, prioritizes care, consults resources.
• Leadership – develops goals, achieves objectives, facilitates collaboration, participates in unit goals and improvement activities, promotes cost‑effective care, gives feedback, promotes a safe environment.
• Patient Assessment – recognizes data from complex situations, synthesizes assessment data, anticipates discharge needs, develops relationships with families.
• Planning – collaborates with patient/family to prepare plan of care, utilizes multidisciplinary resources, addresses cultural issues, prioritizes tasks.
• Research – reads relevant journals, brings ideas and questions to staff.

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

• Two (2) years of nursing experience.
