Guest Advocate (Cashier), General Merchandise, Fulfillment, Food and Beverage, Style (T1404) s role is On-Demand; shifts are posted by store leaders and scheduled via the myTime app. You may select shifts that fit your schedule. Attendance and responsiveness to shift opportunities are essential.

All About On-Demand

You can work as much or as little as you like as an On-Demand Team Member (TM) and your schedule may vary depending on shift availability and store needs. This role is ideal for those seeking a personalized work schedule.

As an On-Demand TM, you will not be included on the posted weekly schedule, but you will have the opportunity to create your own schedule by picking up shifts posted by leaders or other team members (via the myTime mobile scheduling app). When you choose to pick up a shift, reliable and prompt attendance is necessary.

Active engagement by picking up and working shifts is required (minimum four hours every 4 weeks). Flexibility can be granted in certain circumstances, but you must respond to our attempts to contact you to confirm interest in working shifts  you do not respond, employment may be terminated. If you do not work at least one shift within 5 months, employment may be administratively terminated.

Your communication and ability to work when business demands it are critical to success in this role. After an offer, you will attend a Target Welcome orientation and commit to a short-term structured training schedule.

Responsibilities (typical day)
  • Deliver the guest service experience by upholding the service standard
  • Create a welcoming environment by greeting guests during daily tasks
  • Assist guests and resolve needs with a friendly approach
  • Be knowledgeable about tools, products, services, and store areas to assist guests and improve experience
  • Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target
  • Scan and bag items efficiently and in compliance with safety standards
  • Minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy
  • Inform guests about current brand launches and store events
  • Explain Target Loyalty benefits and assist with enrollment; know about fulfillment services
  • Demonstrate how to use Target Wallet and app features
  • Handle returns following policies and escalate as needed
  • De-escalate situations with leaders as needed to recover the guest experience
  • Support Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Registry guests maintaining accuracy and service
  • Keep a clean, organized work area; stock supplies during open hours
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Work safely and report hazards
  • Support cash office processes as needed, including cash systems
  • All other duties based on business needs
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Flexible with shifts (nights, weekends, holidays) as needed
  • Cash handling and basic math skills; ability to operate cash office processes
  • Ability to lift/move merchandise up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 44 pounds occasionally
