The Athletic Assistant Football Coach role at Isle of Wight County Schools is supported by the Supplemental Pay Schedule, which allows for various assistant coaching positions at each high school.

• Reports to the Head Coach
• Completes the State-required concussion course prior to the start of the first practice; works closely with the athletic trainers in providing a safe environment for the student athletes.

• Adheres to all general coaching policies.
• Acts in the absence of the head coach.
• Completes the state-required concussion course prior to the start of the first practice; works closely with the athletic trainers in providing a safe environment for the student athletes.
• Requires sound, acceptable coaching/teaching techniques.
• Uses sound and acceptable teaching practices.
• Runs well-organized practice sessions.
• Completes pre-season planning well in advance of the starting date.
• Adheres to highly efficient and technically sound programs of injury prevention.
• Constructs a well-organized game plan.
• Develops a system for equipment accountability.
• Keeps assistant coaches, student managers, and statisticians well informed about expectations.
• Cooperates fully with maintenance and transportation staff as well as others involved in the athletics program.
• Gives support to all endorsed activities of the school; students will be polite, courteous, and fair to visiting teams.
• Responsible for every facet of discipline by modeling proper behavior; this includes attitudes toward school codes, training rules, rules of the game, ideals of good sportsmanship, and behavior of participants throughout the season.
• The coach represents Isle of Wight County Schools and the community that supports the school and Virginia High School League policies.
• Supervises students in their charge at all times, both before and after activities or practices.
• Carries out duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
