Mold Design Technician

Are you a skilled CAD designer with a passion for precision design and innovative product development? We are seeking a detail-oriented Mold Design Technician to play a pivotal role in our client's design, trial, and production operations.

In this dynamic position, you will bridge the gap between design conceptualization and hands-on manufacturing—creating advanced 2D/3D CAD models, conducting quality testing, and collaborating directly with global teams and customers to bring high-performance packaging solutions to market.

• Drive Design & Modeling:
  Develop high-precision 2D and 3D CAD drawings for preforms, mold assemblies, modifications, and container models.
• Oversee Technical Documentation:
  Maintain accurate Mold Specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), item codes, and revision records.
• Conduct Testing & Inspection:
  Perform comprehensive container evaluations (top load, wall thickness, drop tests) and utilize 3D scanning technology for design validation.
• Support Trials & Inventory:
  Schedule and track pilot/production mold trials, record molding parameters, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate Globally:
  Serve as a technical liaison between internal sales teams, manufacturing facilities, global offices, and external clients.

• CAD Expertise: strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD drafting for complex mechanical or mold components.
• Technical Blueprint Reading:
  Proven ability to translate customer specs, 3D models, and physical samples into actionable drawings.
• Hands-on Testing & Inspection:
  Experience using physical testing equipment and 3D scanners for quality assurance and design checks.
• Analytical Mindset:
  Skilled in evaluating design feasibility, including cycle time, cavitation, and component sharing.
• Strong Communication:
  Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional and international teams.

• CAD Design & Technical Drafting
  • Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings for preforms, mold assemblies, individual mold parts, and mold modifications.
  • Develop container designs from customer specifications, samples, or models for approval.
  • Conduct design feasibility evaluations, including cycle time, cavitation, and component-sharing analysis.
  • Review colleagues' drawings and reports to maintain strict quality standards.
• Mold Documentation & Data Management
  • Prepare and maintain Mold Specifications, Bills of Materials (BOM), and item code numbers.
  • Record mold modification revisions and communicate updates to global offices.
  • Manage, archive, and send confidential mold drawing files and technical data.
• Testing, Inspection & Quality Control
  • Perform destructive and non-destructive testing on container samples (e.g., wall thickness, dimensions, top load, drop test, fill point capacity).
  • Set up and operate 3D scanners to assist with CAD modeling, design evaluations, and technical communications.
• Trial Support & Operations
  • Plan, schedule, and track pilot and production mold trials, documenting molding parameters and test results.
  • Maintain and organize inventory for mold units and spare parts; arrange for mold scrapping as needed.
  • Catalog, store, pack, and ship sample bottles, customer containers, and 3D-printed mockup models.
