The Motor Grader Operator is a key team member responsible for the safe and efficient operation of motor graders/blades in performing general dirt work operations. This role entails following precise instructions and specifications from supervisors while adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.
What you will do:- Precision Grading:
Expertly spread and level dirt, gravel, and stone to meet grade specifications. - Blade Control:
Monitor and adjust the height and angle of the grader blade for precise grading. - Soil Preparation:
Loosen compacted soil to facilitate grading operations. - Grade Leveling:
Navigate the working area while observing stakes or hand signals from ground crew to achieve the specified grade level. - Depth Control:
Gauge depth of cut by feel and engine sound. - Traffic Control:
Safely manage traffic flow as required. - Erosion Control:
Set up and maintain erosion control measures. - Material Handling:
Load and unload materials efficiently. - Site Cleanup:
Perform general cleanup around the job site. - Grade Maintenance:
Regularly check and maintain the grade. - Traffic Control Aids:
Set up and maintain all traffic control devices. - Equipment Monitoring:
Continuously monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure machine functionality. - Maintenance Checks:
Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment. - Tool Management:
Ensure all tools are properly stored at the end of each shift. - Safety Priority:
Promptly report potential safety or equipment issues to supervisors. - Process Adherence:
Strictly follow established processes and procedures. - Safety Gear:
Wear appropriate clothing, footwear, and personal protective equipment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned or required.
Education:
- The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum of six months to one year of experience as a motor grader operator.
- The ability to judge distances and object proximity.
- Visual acuity for details at varying distances.
- Quick response to signals.
- Anticipation of changes in the speed and direction of moving objects.
- Swift decision-making in response to multiple signals or cues (lights, sounds).
- Lifting and carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 lbs (approximately 50% of the time).
- Standing/walking/climbing (approximately 50% of the time).
- Occasional sitting in a normal position for extended periods (approximately 50% of the time).
- Frequent reaching/handling/feeling (approximately 70% of the time).
- Frequent use of finger dexterity (over 70% of the time).
- Moderate to high noise level.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold in an uncontrolled work environment.
- The typical shift for this position is during the day, with occasional weekend and/or night shifts based on job scheduling and weather conditions. Compensation will be based on experience.

The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
