Area Director of Resident Care

We are seeking an exceptional area director of resident care to join our leadership team and oversee all clinical care and medication services for 2 of our Assisted Living and Memory Care communities in Smyrna, GA & Canton, GA.
This role is ideal for a nurse with strong leadership skills, excellent clinical judgment, and a passion for mentoring and developing care staff.

- Monday - Friday
- 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. - Travel required between 2 communities in Smyrna, GA & Canton, GA
- Full‑time leadership role with on‑call responsibilities
- Requires occasional work beyond traditional hours and flexibility during emergencies
- Fast‑paced environment with frequent interaction with residents, families, and staff
- Exposure to typical community health environments, including infection control protocols
- Oversee daily resident care and medication management to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
- Develop, update, and communicate care plans and assessments
- Lead infection control protocols and ensure staff training compliance
- Conduct rounds, monitor resident condition changes, ensure follow‑up and documentation
- Serve as liaison between residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Participate in resident/family care conferences and Quality Assurance programs
- Manage clinical aspects of state and federal surveys
- Maintain care supply inventories and ordering
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate care staff
- Oversee scheduling and staffing levels
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when needed
- Ensure staff maintain certifications and required training’s
- Lead daily stand‑up meetings and foster strong team communication
- Model excellent customer service with residents, families, staff, and visitors
- Participate as part of the community’s leadership team
- May serve as Acting Executive Director in their absence
- Ensure resident rights are protected and concerns are addressed promptly
- 21+ years of age
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
- Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing license
- 1+ year of management experience in Long-Term Care
- 1–2 years minimum (3+ preferred) working with seniors or individuals with cognitive decline
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization, documentation, and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate, ethical, dependable, and committed to resident-centered care
- Proficient with computers and basic office equipment
- Ability to meet health, background check, and driver’s license requirements
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Ability to lift 10–35 lbs and meet physical requirements of the role
