Field Service Technician
Join the ABB team as a Field Service Technician. This role reports to the Service Manager and focuses on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical power systems for data centers, hospitals, telecommunications facilities, and other mission‑critical environments.
Key Responsibilities- Specialize in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical power systems including uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDU), static switches (STS), and associated equipment.
- Ensure continuous, reliable operation of mission‑critical infrastructure.
- Perform service tasks such as installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, engineering consulting, advanced services, extensions, upgrades, retrofits, end‑of‑life services, replacements, etc.
- Execute service work according to customer orders and expectations, building relationships and identifying new sales opportunities.
- Coordinate, prepare, and ensure that all materials, parts, and equipment meet quality standards.
- Identify potential equipment failures proactively, troubleshoot failures, and recommend preventive actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology with 1+ year servicing critical power equipment OR Associate’s degree with 3+ years OR High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years equivalent experience.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Must have work authorization permitting employment in the U.S.
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal).
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Moderate project‑management skills with MS Project or Excel.
- Ability to write detailed test plans and reports.
- Strong organizational skills and sense of urgency.
- Team collaborator.
