Summary:

Develop and implement robust manufacturing processes and formulas. Create master formula cards for manufacturing use. Support daily manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit team player qualities such as cooperation and coordination; maintain professional interactions in all business contacts.
  • Attendance:
    Be present for scheduled work hours; may require extended hours based on workload.
  • Safety:
    Enforce all safety rules, procedures, and guidelines; report safety issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes weekly.
  • Troubleshoot substandard batches and implement corrective actions weekly.
  • Monitor scale-up batches on-site and at contract manufacturers as needed.
  • Develop new formulas meeting marketing specifications and reformulate or improve existing formulas through bench experiments as needed.
  • Create, review, and approve technical documents supporting development projects.
  • Develop specifications for new or reformulated products.
  • Source and approve raw materials, including alternatives.
  • Provide technical support related to product formulas to other departments as needed.
  • Support plant equipment changes affecting formula production.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Biological Sciences, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

    Experience Requirements:

    • At least three years of related experience as a chemist.
    • Knowledge of data inquiry and editing systems.
    • Strong mathematical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Intermediate proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications.

    Work Conditions:

    Work may involve wet or humid conditions near mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and exposure to toxic chemicals such as acids and bases. The role operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment.

    Physical Demands:

    Requires standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for disabilities.
