The Baler / Sorter plays a critical role in the manufacturing industry by efficiently managing the sorting and baling of recyclable and raw materials to ensure smooth production workflows. This position is responsible for operating baling machinery and sorting equipment to process materials according to quality and safety standards. The role requires attention to detail to identify and separate materials accurately, contributing to waste reduction and resource optimization.
The Baler / Sorter collaborates closely with production and logistics teams to maintain a clean and organized work environment, supporting overall operational efficiency. Ultimately, this position helps the company meet environmental compliance goals while supporting manufacturing productivity and sustainability initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating baling or sorting equipment in a manufacturing or recycling environment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and compliance standards in an industrial setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in equipment operation or industrial safety training.
- Experience with computerized inventory or production tracking systems.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations related to waste management and recycling.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends or overtime as needed.
- Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate baling machines to compress recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastics, and metals into compact bales for easy handling and transportation.
- Sort incoming materials by type, quality, and condition to ensure proper processing and recycling.
- Inspect materials for contaminants or non-recyclable items and remove them to maintain product quality and safety standards.
- Maintain and clean baling and sorting equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate material flow and support production schedules.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Document production and sorting activities accurately for inventory and reporting purposes.
