Medical Lab Scientist - South Campus, Nights

Independent performance of laboratory procedures and testing on patients of all ages. Executes, interprets, and analyzes laboratory tests accurately and in a timely manner. This role independently performs procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency.

• Education
  :
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required plus sufficient college/technical courses and clinical training to meet testing and certification requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) preferred.
• Work Experience
  :
  • No experience required beyond education/training requirement.
  • One year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist or laboratory scientist preferred.
  • Competence in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, and microbiology preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications
  :
  • MTA - Medical Technologist Certification by ASCP, AMT, or AAB required upon hire.
  • MLS - Medical Lab Scientist certification required upon hire.
  • Recent Georgia residents may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for up to 18 months to complete qualifying exams.
  • AAB provisional certification not accepted.
