Emergency Veterinarian (Relief) – Snellville, GA Overview

The Job

As a per diem Emergency Veterinarian you will provide comprehensive emergency care for all kinds of animals, including exotics. Working on the hospital floor, you will handle routine and complex cases, perform surgeries and support a customer‑focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Answer medical questions over the phone.
  • See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
  • Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals and perform a thorough physical exam.
  • Conduct diagnostics (ultrasound, X‑ray, bloodwork, biopsy).
  • Create a diagnosis, develop a diagnostic and therapeutic plan and communicate it to customers.
  • Prepare estimates and present them to customers.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.
  • Perform endoscopic procedures.
  • Educate customers on after‑care and preventive measures.
Qualifications
  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Proficiency in emergency medicine, including soft‑tissue surgery and endoscopy.
  • Ability to work in team‑oriented, fast‑paced environments.
  • Physical capability to stand, kneel, lift up to 25 kg alone, and support up to 40 kg with assistance.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis.
  • Comfortable working in a noisy environment with strong odors.
