Position: SEN Specialist Teacher (ASD) for Inclusive Classrooms

Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) Teacher (SEN)

Location: Kent (Snodland Area)

Start Date: April (Summer Term)

Contract: Full-time

Are you a passionate educator committed to unlocking the potential of every child? We are seeking an exceptional Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) Teacher to join our nationally recognised team this April.

Our school is proud to host a specialist provision for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is an incredible opportunity to work in a setting where every child belongs to both the SRP and a mainstream class, ensuring true integration and social growth.

The

Role

As an SRP Teacher, you will be pivotal in delivering a personalised curriculum tailored to the unique needs of our pupils. Your classroom, "Wallaby Class," is a hub of creativity, sensory support, and specialised intervention.

You will work closely with a Lead Teacher, HLTAs, and TAs to provide:

  • Specialised Instruction: Tailoring lessons for children with ASD, including those with complex needs.

  • Communication Support: Working specifically with pupils who are non-verbal, utilising alternative communication methods (such as PECS or Makaton) to ensure their voices are heard.

  • Intervention Delivery: Leading sessions in Social Skills, Zones of Regulation, Emotional Literacy, and Sensory Circuits.

  • Inclusive Practice: Supporting pupils as they transition between the SRP and mainstream classrooms.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a dedicated practitioner who brings a strong SEN background. We welcome applications from:

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS): Looking to specialise further in a high-achieving SEN environment.

  • OR Unqualified Teachers: Individuals with significant relevant experience in SEN settings, specialised ASD provisions, or communication-based roles.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience working with children with ASD.

  • Confidence in supporting non-verbal learners.

  • A deep understanding of the sensory and emotional challenges faced by pupils with complex needs.

  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work alongside mainstream staff and external professionals.
