Job Overview
We are looking for reliable, student-focused substitute para educators to support schools across the Snohomish School District. Substitute para educators work on an as needed basis during the school year to fill in for absences and vacancies in a variety of roles, including general education support, special education, and one-on-one/classroom support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general education support in assigned classrooms.
- Support special education programs and students with individualized education plans.
- Offer one-on-one or classroom support to students as needed.
- Accept assignments on short notice, often with same-day availability from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM.
- Maintain active participation in the substitute pool; generally expected to accept two assignments per month.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet the qualifications listed in the job descriptions (see attached Para educator A and B files).
- AND meet one of the following:
- Have an associate degree or higher.
- Have 72 quarter or 48 semester college credits (100-level or above from an accredited college or university).
- Score 455 or higher on the ETS Para Pro Assessment.
- Para educator Level A: $26.43 per hour.
- Para educator Level B: $27.91 per hour.
On-call, as needed. Assignment times vary by school. Shifts may span a full day, partial day, or shorter time blocks. Fridays are shortened district-wide. Accept assignments on short notice between 5:00-7:00 AM.
- Elementary: ~8:35 AM – 3:15 PM (Mon-Thurs) / ~8:35 AM – 1:15 PM (Fri)
- Middle/High: ~7:30 AM – 2:12 PM (Mon-Thurs) / ~7:30 AM – 12:12 PM (Fri)

Path A – Para Pro Assessment score report (full pages) + high school diploma or equivalent.

Hiring Requirements- Satisfactory reference checks.
- Fingerprint-based criminal background check.
- Satisfactory sexual misconduct clearance from any prior school district employer.
