Location: Valley View Middle School
Pay Range: $2,393 - $2,850 per year (2024‑25 Salary Schedule)
Season: Spring – Middle School, 4th Quarter, April 13 2026 – June 1 2026 (subject to change)
Time Frame: 11‑month school year (subject to change)

Job SummaryAssists the head coach in implementing a given sports program. Coaches develop fundamental skills and an understanding of the rules of the sport, model sportsmanship, and foster cooperation. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment, ensuring eligibility, monitoring behavior, issuing and inventorying equipment, and maintaining financial and related records.
Qualifications- Demonstrated coaching experience, either at the head or assistant level
- Meeting or willingness to meet the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association coaching certification standard
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Valid Washington state teacher certification preferred
- Prior employment as a teacher or substitute teacher in Snohomish School District preferred
- Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport preferred
- Substantial knowledge of technical aspects of the sport preferred
- Willingness to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport
- Possess or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certificates
- HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B training
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive relationships with students, staff, and the community
- Ability to promote the athletic program and build goodwill in the community
- Ability to articulate a well‑defined coaching philosophy
- Commitment to ethical competition, sportsmanship, leadership, and citizenship
- Ability to positively motivate athletes and promote teamwork
- Effective listening and clear communication skills
- Consistent application of team rules and regulations
- Firm but fair enforcement of behavioral expectations
- Implementation of developmentally and age‑appropriate coaching methods
- Willingness to pursue innovation through clinics and workshops
- Knowledge of safe training practices and injury procedures
The position is open to all individuals, including current employees. In no event will additional employment in this role lead to overtime pay. Employment is for the stated school year only and does not continue past that year. All offers are contingent upon satisfactory background checks, criminal history, sexual misconduct records, and board approval.
