Overview

OSW Equipment & Repair, LLC, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation, is the largest truck body and trailer manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest. OSW’s main facility is in the Maltby area in Snohomish County. OSW has been in business for over 20 years and has branches in Edmonton, Canada and Tempe, Arizona.

Position

The Quality Control Technician will look for outliers that don’t meet existing specifications and ensure the final product meets company standards before being sent to the next department or delivered to the customer.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections on equipment throughout the production process.
  • Ensure all manufacturing paperwork is properly filled out and corrected if needed.
  • Complete all quality control paperwork and sign off.
  • Photograph units for documentation.
  • Test drive/brake check all equipment.
  • Move equipment in and out of the shop and organize yard of finished product and new arrivals.
  • Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality.
  • Ensure the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complies with legal requirements.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods.
  • Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing reworks and wastes, and inputting data into quality databases.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and arranging repairs as needed.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and radiographs.
  • Use gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products.
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data.
  • Determine causes of product defects and reworks.
  • Verify all equipment is calibrated correctly.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Basic computer and math skills to calibrate and measure specifications.
  • Ability to use measuring devices like gauges, meters, calipers and computers.
  • In-depth understanding of company standards.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of federal and industry standards and best practices.
  • Understanding of target market and consumer needs.
  • Blueprint reading capabilities.
  • Documentation and reporting skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of industry experience, 1–2 years of quality control experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to squat, reach above/below shoulder level, kneel, twist, and bend at the neck and waist.
  • Visual acuity and color distinction necessary for identifying defects.
Additional Job Information
  • Wage: $26.00 – $33.00 per hour.
  • Pay:
    Non-exempt, hourly position; paid bi-weekly.
  • Typical Schedule:

    Four (4) ten-hour days, Monday–Friday.
  • Location:

    On Site – 20812 Broadway Ave, Snohomish, WA 98296.
  • Travel:
    Very minimal to none.
