Veterinary Assistant - Emergency | Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, Snohomish, WA | Full-time - Overnight shift

• Overnight shift:
  Friday - Sunday 7pm-8am
• Shift differentials (per week): 7 days per week -- 7pm-11pm: $2/hr
• Sun-Thurs 11pm-7am: $3/hr
• Fri/Sat 11pm-7am: $4/hr
• Sat/Sun 7am-7pm: $1/hr
• Friday/Sunday additional: $2/hr

Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant. We promote an emotionally intelligent work environment and positive culture at our hospital. We invest heavily in our employees with many opportunities for growth and development as well as a consistent work/life balance.

As a Veterinary Assistant you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians, technicians, and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with Washington's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for veterinary assistants.
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on medications and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• 2 years of continuous veterinary assistant experience (direct animal/patient care required)
• Desire to practice empathetic, gold standard medicine benefiting our patients
• Team oriented with an ability to collaborate and support each other
• Are paw-sitive, kind and provide trustworthy communication to the patients, team members and clients.
• Have the desire to constantly grow and advance as a veterinary assistant!
