Veterinary Assistant – Emergency

Snohomish, WA

Full‑time – Overnight shift

Shift schedule:
Friday‑Sunday 7 pm‑8 am (additional $2 /hr). 7 p‑11 p (7 days per week $2 /hr). Sun‑Thurs 11 p‑7 a ($3 /hr). Fri/Sat 11 p‑7 a ($4 /hr). Sat/Sun 7 a‑7 p ($1 /hr).

Role

Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist veterinarians, technicians, and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow in all hospital functions.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with Washington's Veterinary Practice Act for veterinary assistants.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on medications and additional treatments.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 2 years of continuous veterinary assistant experience (direct animal/patient care required).
  • Desire to practice empathetic, gold‑standard medicine benefiting our patients.
  • Team‑oriented with an ability to collaborate and support each other.
  • Positive, kind, and trustworthy communication with patients, team members, and clients.
  • Desire to constantly grow and advance as a veterinary assistant.

Salary Range

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an hourly pay rate starting at $23 – $27 /hr. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. A generous hourly shift differential (between $1 and $4 per hour) is also available.
