At Cable Com, LLC, as a Locator, you’ll operate electronic locating equipment to guide a horizontal directional drill along a planned path, ensuring accuracy while avoiding existing underground utilities. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting utility prints, communicating with the drill operator about the bore path, and performing physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.

What You’ll Do
  • Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
  • Operate different electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
  • Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel regarding underground facilities.
  • Perform light excavation with a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary.
  • Provide accurate documentation and/or sketches related to all locates completed.
  • Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements.
  • Use a computer or other device to receive, document, and close out excavation notices.
  • Respond to emergency calls.
  • Work weekends, nights, and/or overnight travel as needed.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.
What You’ll Need
  • To be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record.
Physical Abilities & Exposures
  • Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally: use portable ladder, work in confined spaces, and climb stairs.

The wage range for Locator - Directional Drill Bore is $23.00 - $28.00.
