We’re seeking dedicated Medical Assistants for Neurology, Rheumatology, Allergy, or Sports Medicine services. The role involves both administrative and clinical duties under physician direction, supporting a diverse array of specialty practices.
Job Responsibilities- Interview patients to obtain current condition/complaint, measure vital signs, weight, and height
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician or provider
- Record patients’ medical history, social history, family history, and surgical history; obtain outside medical records
- Perform related work as required for several specialty doctors including but not limited to Primary Care, Psychiatry, Behavioral Health, GI, Cardiology, Physiatry, Orthopedics, Geriatrics
- Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing and/or transport
- Perform waived tests and quality controls for waived test kits
- Manage message inbox and make outbound calls to patients per physician or provider instructions
- Enter orders and referrals into the EMR per physician or provider instructions
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician or provider’s instructions to patients
- Help physician or provider during procedures; manage sterile setup
- Proper instrument handling and cleaning
- Perform tasks such as EKG, venipuncture, injections, ear lavage, nebulizer treatments, pulmonary function tests, and removal of sutures as directed by the physician or provider
- Maintain state vaccine records via the Washington Immunization Information System
- Prepare prescription refills for electronic signature by the physician or provider
- Prepare paper documents for provider signature
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
- Clean and stock exam rooms, venipuncture room, and lab
- Perform occupational health tasks as assigned
- Perform appropriate hand hygiene
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; HIPAA compliance
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations

- Education
:
High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program - Certification
: MA certification or registration active in Washington State - Experience
:
Successful completion of a Medical Assisting externship;
Preferred:
One year of on‑the‑job experience
- Background or experience in Neurology, Rheumatology, Allergy, or Sports Medicine
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Proficient in patient interview and history taking
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures such as blood draw, venipuncture, nebulizer treatments, and pulmonary function tests
- Excellent EMR and coding procedures knowledge
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
- Effective organizational and time‑management skills, including message inbox management
- Team collaboration and commitment to ongoing professional development
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and an active clinic setting. The work may be stressful, with constant interaction with patients and staff.
Physical DemandsRequires full range of body motion including lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, standing, and handling patients. Manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination required. Normal vision and hearing required. Exposure to bodily fluids is possible.

Eligibility
:
Employees scheduled at least 20 hours per week. Employee dependents: legal spouse or domestic partner, and dependent children until age 26. Waiting period: first of the month following your date of hire.
