Rotating Equipment Vibration Analyst – CO2 Company Overview

Position DescriptionProviding rotating equipment vibration analysis support to the CO2 business unit’s operational assets (Oil & Gas, Midstream & RNG). The role involves analyzing the health of rotating machinery to proactively identify and predict issues and recommend corrective actions. A solid background in vibration analysis using Emerson’s CSI analyzers and at least a CAT 1 vibration certification is required.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate safe behavior.
- Ensure proactive, ongoing, high quality customer service is provided to the supported assets.
- Utilize Emerson’s CSI analyzers to create/set‑up data collection routes and analyzer settings such as Fmax, lines of resolution etc for plant equipment.
- Utilize Emerson’s CSI analyzer to collect and analyze vibration data for rotating machinery such as split case pumps, H‑pumps, vertical pumps, screw and centrifugal compressors, motors, gearboxes, air coolers etc.
- Utilize trending, time waveform and FFT spectral data to identify equipment issues and provide corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Reduce unplanned machinery downtime by making predictions of imminent failures from collected data, as well as diagnosing potential root causes of failure.
- Utilize process data such as pressures, temperatures, flows, loads and efficiency etc to determine machinery health.
- Provide field diagnostics and troubleshooting support to operations and maintenance.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and incident investigations when necessary.
- Utilize CMMs (Maximo) to generate reports.
- Other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
At least a high school diploma is required.
Experience / Knowledge- Minimum 3 years of experience collecting vibration data on centrifugal equipment in process industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, etc. Similar experience in other industries will be considered.
- Experience using CSI (Emerson) analyzers preferred; other analyzers considered.
- Knowledge of CMM software (Maximo, SAP, etc.) desired.
- Knowledge of oil analysis is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of infrared thermography is a plus but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- CAT 1 vibration certification is required.
- Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills on centrifugal equipment.
- Teamwork, adherence to schedules, attention to detail, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- Proactive decision-making, strong work ethic, keen sense of requirements to achieve success.
