Overview

Summary:

Under the supervision of a licensed RN, the graduate nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. The role involves periodizing the delivery of care using time and resources efficiently, integrating an evidence- and standards-based framework model.

Qualifications

Other information:

  • Associates in Nursing or Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Graduate of an academic School of Nursing required
  • Minimum ADN or BSN Preparation
  • State permit to practice as a Graduate Nurse required
  • Degree from an accredited academic school of nursing preferred
  • Permit to practice at the specific PHS facility is completed and approved by the NMBON
  • Permits to practice are valid until NCLEX examination is disseminated but not to exceed the permit's expiration date
  • Must be scheduled to take the NCLEX exam
  • Graduate RNs educated in the US may take the exam up to three times within three years of eligibility
  • Must wait 45 days to retake the exam after failing, meeting all NCLEX requirements
  • BLS Required
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct patient care under RN supervision
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient needs and responses
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare team
  • Performing assessments, documenting in EMR, and initiating protocols
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Meeting discharge and education needs
  • Evaluating patient progress and documenting
  • Responding to emergency situations at basic competency levels
  • Delegating tasks appropriately and supervising team members
  • Supporting standards of care, participating in education, quality improvement, and governance activities

Compensation
