In line with our commitment to supporting our clients in key geographical areas, we have decided to open a new office in Sohar, Oman. We have completed the paperwork regarding the license and authorizations for foreign investors and are now ready to launch business operations.
Role OverviewJP Shipping is looking for a dedicated and experienced shipping agent - with a minimum of 10 years of experience - to take on the role of Branch and Operations Manager, leading and managing all shipping agency activities at our soon-to-open branch in Sohar. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, actively participating in day‑to‑day operations alongside junior operators / boarding clerk to ensure smooth and efficient vessel management.
Key Responsibilities- Actively oversee branch activities, participate in vessel operations – including vessels arrival and departure procedures - and coordinate junior operators / boarding clerk to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Identify new business opportunities and discuss them with company management.
- Coordinate with company management to make important decisions and develop company strategies.
- Coordinate with the administrative department to prepare final Disbursement Accounts (DA) related to vessel voyages.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of Junior Operators / boarding clerk, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing effective strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Liaise with local authorities and ensure strict compliance with regulatory and safety standards for ships calling at the port and all branch activities.
- Optimise the organisation's resources within the branch to improve overall effectiveness.
- Prepare and analyse reports on branch activities to inform management and agree on subsequent actions.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Shipping / boarding Agent in Oman.
- Excellent knowledge of shipping procedure procedures in Oman, including vessel arrival and departure procedures.
- Strong knowledge of local and international shipping regulations and requirements.
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills required (IELTS 7.0 / C1).
- Good computer skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with shipping partners and local authorities.
- Ability to identify new business opportunities and work with management to develop strategies.
- Previous experience in the same sector (minimum of 10 years) is an essential condition for this role.
- A university degree will be considered a preferential qualification for the selection process.
