POSITION OVERVIEW:We are seeking a Landscape Architect/Designer with 4-8 years of experience and a strong background in landscape design and planting to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who has solid technical skills, a refined design sensibility, and a passion to create planting plans as an integral part of the landscape architecture process.
You’ll collaborate closely with the principal and senior team members to develop and execute design concepts—from schematic design through construction documentation—while focusing on creating thoughtful, appropriate planting palettes and detailed planting plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Accompany principal on site visits/meetings with clients and industry partners – capturing key notes and managing action items.
- Collaborate with principal to develop conceptual and detailed planting design strategies that align with overall project vision.
- Assist in the presentation materials, including rendered plans, diagrams, and illustrative graphics as needed.
- Initiate the design and documentation of planting plans, palettes, and schedules for a range of project types.
- Assist with construction documentation and coordinate with consultants, architects, and contractors during project development as needed.
- Assist with the curation and sourcing of materials (i.e.: trees, plants, hardscape, and details).
- Provide on-site support and observation and review during the construction administration phase and installation to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program or a minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in a landscape architecture/design studio environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketch Up.
- Strong design sense with a focus on planting design, materiality, and composition.
- Solid understanding of California (and Mediterranean-climate) plant materials.
- Experience preparing construction documents and coordinating with team members.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
