Executive Assistant to the Director
Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) is seeking a highly organized and proactive Executive Assistant to support the Director. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the Director’s Office and the Kenai River Campus Faculty Services Office. The successful candidate will manage a variety of responsibilities and serves as an expert resource for faculty and staff. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic initiatives of KPC and support its mission of educational excellence.
As the Executive Assistant, you will serve as the executive assistant to the KPC Director, assisting in policy development and supporting special projects. You will manage confidential issues and oversee faculty document processing in compliance with union agreements and UA policy. Collaboration with HR and participation in the KPC Leadership Committee and Emergency Response Team are also key components of this role.
In terms of employee recruitment, you will oversee recruitment for faculty and staff positions, ensuring compliance with university regulations. This includes training search committees, developing job postings, and maintaining recruitment files. You will act as the KPC representative to applicants and keep the Director informed on search statuses.
In managing the office, you will oversee the Director’s Office and Faculty Services Office, supervising staff and managing administrative support policies. You will work closely with the Director and Director of Academic Affairs to implement faculty support procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively organize and present information. Strong teamwork capabilities and the ability to maintain professional relationships are essential. The role requires someone who can manage stressful situations with tact and diplomacy, using sound judgment to make responsible decisions. Proven organizational, problem-solving, and technology skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple complex projects with firm timelines.
Candidates should have significant experience in a similar role, with experience handling confidential issues and organizing projects. Experience in employee recruitment and hiring, with supervisory experience a benefit. Experience working with diverse groups and individuals is also important.
Minimum QualificationsThree years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience related to the position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Bachelor's degree is preferred. Must have a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets UAA's safe driver requirements. Must be Notary Public in the State of Alaska or ability to become one within 6 months of first day of employment.
Position DetailsThis position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna. This is a full-time, regular, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79 starting at $27.95 per hour, based on education and experience.
