Program HighlightsUndergraduate Assistants (UAs) are UAA students who work hand‑in‑hand with faculty to enhance the educational environment and develop their own professional skills.
Examples of Duties- Embedded in a course to help fellow students succeed by working one‑on‑one or in groups, holding exam study sessions, etc.
- Facilitate conversations, discussions, and in‑class activities.
- Provide support on a specific academic project led by a faculty member.
- Attend required orientation and training sessions.
- Attend weekly meetings with Lead Faculty and any UAs from the same course.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty related to your specific role in the class or project.
- Be reliable, dependable, committed, and available for all shifts, meetings, and trainings.
- Communicate effectively and work well with students, peers, staff, and faculty.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset, willingness to learn, give and receive feedback, and support peers without simply providing answers.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and supportive academic model for students in class.
Experience tutoring, coaching, teaching, mentoring, or working well with others is preferred. Typically, a successful UA who will be embedded in a specific course has previously passed the course or taken similar courses to the one they are an UA for.
Minimum Qualifications- Enrolled at UAA with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in the semester of employment.
- Completed at least one semester at UAA/KPC.
- Good disciplinary standing with the university.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Upon hire must complete the UAA Employee e‑Learning Trainings: FERPA (Protecting Student Privacy) and Title IX.
- Additional UA program training at KPC will be required.
- Part‑time student position up to 40 hours per semester (typically 1–4 hours per week).
- Level 2 Step 17 position, paying $15.57 per hour.
- Available courses change each semester; 2025/26 may include Biology, Chemistry, History, and Psychology.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction; visa sponsorship is not permitted.
