The City of Soldotna is seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our team as full-time Police Officers
These positions are open until filled.
Are you ready to make a difference in your community? This position, under the general supervision of the Chief of Police or their designee, performs general police duties and is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and the protection of life and property. Police officers interact with the general public regularly to provide educational, investigative, and related police services with the goal of preventing crime, ensuring public safety, and developing positive police-citizen relationships.

Responsibilities include:- Ability to exercise independent judgment in law enforcement duties.
- Legal ability to enforce laws within the jurisdiction.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Ability to work with other agencies and the public.
- High school diploma or GED; minimum age 21.
- Valid, unrestricted Alaska driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
- Good driving record.
- Ability to pass various screenings and tests, including drug, medical, polygraph, psychological, physical fitness, and background checks.
- Must meet all requirements under Alaska Administrative Code (13 AAC 85) and obtain/maintain police certification.
- Obtain and maintain ASPIN security clearance.
- Preferred:
Degree in criminal justice or related field, or prior law enforcement experience.
Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The environment may involve exposure to dangerous situations, chemicals, biological hazards, and extreme weather. Physical exertion, including lifting over 100 pounds, is required. The role involves working indoors and outdoors, sometimes in stressful situations, and operating vehicles and equipment.
Physical demands:This position requires high physical ability, including strength, agility, and sensory acuity. Employees must maintain physical fitness levels and may be required to meet departmental standards annually. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
