Vehicle Technician – Job Specification

Job Purpose

To carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair work to a high standard, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable and returned to customers on time and to manufacturer and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on cars and/or light commercial vehicles

* Diagnose vehicle faults using manufacturer and diagnostic equipment

* Complete mechanical and electrical repairs efficiently and accurately

* Carry out MOT preparation work (and MOT testing if qualified)

* Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer standards and warranty guidelines

* Accurately complete job cards, reports and service documentation

* Identify additional work required and communicate findings clearly to the Service Advisor / Workshop Controller

* Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment

* Adhere to health & safety regulations at all times

* Keep technical knowledge up to date through training and manufacturer updates

Skills & Experience Required

* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)

* Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic

* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* High attention to detail and quality of workmanship

* Good time management and ability to meet deadlines

* Full UK driving licence

Desirable (but not essential)

* MOT Tester qualification

* Main dealer or manufacturer-trained background

* Hybrid / EV training and experience

* Brand accreditation
