Location: Metropolitan Borough of Solihull

12-month fixed term (maternity cover) with progression opportunity

VINCI Building is excited to offer an opportunity for a Bid Writer to join our team to cover a 12-month maternity leave across our Midlands Business Unit based in Solihull, with the opportunity to progress into a longer-term role in the future.

As an experienced Bid Writer, you’ll join our work-winning team helping us create compelling, high-quality tender submissions that clearly communicate why VINCI Building is the right construction partner for our clients.

This is much more than simply pulling documents together. You’ll work closely with our bid, pre-construction, technical and operational teams, understanding the customer’s priorities and turning technical information into clear, persuasive and differentiated responses.

You’ll play an important role throughout the tender process, helping develop the structure and narrative of submissions and ensuring every response is compliant, engaging, evidence‑based and delivered to the highest standard.

The role

As Bid Writer, you will:

  • Coordinate and produce high-quality PQQ, framework, tender and proposal submissions.
  • Interpret tender questions and customer requirements to understand exactly what a successful response needs to demonstrate.
  • Research, write and edit compelling qualitative responses that clearly articulate our solutions, experience, capability and added value.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts across construction, design, commercial, planning, sustainability, health & safety and other disciplines to extract the information needed to develop strong responses.
  • Interview and challenge contributors to turn highly technical information into clear, concise and persuasive content.
  • Help develop win themes, key messages and proposal narratives that differentiate our offer.
  • Review and edit material provided by others, ensuring consistency of message, tone and quality throughout the submission.
  • Coordinate contributions from different stakeholders, maintaining momentum against the bid programme and key submission deadlines.
  • Ensure submissions comply fully with tender requirements, corporate brand standards and agreed bid management processes.
  • Support the development of presentations and other collateral required throughout the tender process.
  • Develop and maintain a strong library of case studies, evidence, project experience and reusable best‑practice content.
  • Support post‑bid reviews and capture lessons learned to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of future submissions.
You’ll ideally bring:
  • Previous experience as a Bid Writer, Senior Bid Writer, Bid Coordinator or similar work‑winning professional, preferably within a main contractor or construction consultancy.
  • A proven ability to produce high‑quality written responses for PQQs, tenders, frameworks and proposals.
  • Excellent written English with the ability to take complex or technical information and turn it into persuasive, easy‑to‑understand content.
  • An understanding of the construction tender process and the different disciplines involved in developing a successful bid.
  • Strong interviewing skills and the confidence to obtain the right information from busy technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly around compliance, accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong organisation and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams and deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to build relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • The ability to challenge content constructively rather than simply accepting what has been provided.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, with experience of Adobe InDesign beneficial.
