SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Complex SEN & Behaviour)
Location:
B34
Pay: £90 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Contract:
Full-time, Monday to Friday – Until the end of the academic year (with potential to extend) ASAP Start
Smile Education is working in partnership with a large, high-need primary school in B34 seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs and extremely challenging behaviour.
This role requires patience, consistency and a genuine commitment to supporting children with significant additional needs.

Large mainstream primary with significant SEN provision
Complex Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
Some pupils display very challenging behaviour

The Role
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex SEN
Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
Implement structured routines and behaviour plans consistently
Assist the class teacher with adapting learning materials
Use multi-sensory and practical learning approaches
Support personal care if required
Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils
Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times
Consistency is essential, as pupils benefit from predictable routines and dependable adults.
Requirements
Minimum 6 months’ experience supporting Autism or complex SEN
Experience working with challenging behaviour
Calm, patient and resilient personality
Strong communication skills
Team player who can follow structured plans
Able to commit full-time
2 references covering the past 2 years (one must comment on working with children)
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Team Teach or behaviour management training desirable but not essential
