Hairdressing & Beauty Teacher

Teacher Active is working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Castle Bromwich that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Hairdressing & Beauty Teacher for an immediate start.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher or experienced Further Education Hairdressing & Beauty lecturer/teacher who is passionate about sharing their industry knowledge and helping young people develop practical, vocational and employability skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging Hairdressing and Beauty lessons to secondary-aged pupils, combining practical instruction with relevant theory and ensuring students are supported to make progress and achieve positive outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

The successful Hairdressing & Beauty Teacher will ideally:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK, or have previous experience teaching Hairdressing & Beauty within Further Education.

Hold relevant professional Hairdressing and/or Beauty qualifications.

Have strong practical and theoretical knowledge of the Hairdressing and Beauty industry.

Have experience planning and delivering engaging vocational lessons.

Be confident teaching secondary-aged pupils or FE learners.

Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

Be able to differentiate lessons for pupils with varying levels of ability.

Be confident assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback.

Have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Demonstrate a positive and professional approach to teaching and learning.

Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Key Responsibilities

As a Hairdressing & Beauty Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based Hairdressing and Beauty lessons.

Demonstrate professional techniques safely and effectively.

Support students in developing practical, vocational and employability skills.

Adapt teaching to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners.

Maintain a safe and professional practical learning environment.

Monitor and assess student progress.

Complete marking and provide constructive feedback.

Maintain appropriate records of pupil attainment and progress.

Promote positive behaviour and high expectations within lessons.

Support pupils who may have SEND or require additional help to access learning.

Ensure equipment, products and resources are used safely and appropriately.

Attend relevant staff meetings, CPD sessions and parents' evenings where required.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff and senior leaders.

Follow all school safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures.

Safeguarding & Compliance Requirements

Provide two professional references from recent employers.

Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS through Teacher Active.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Provide evidence of relevant teaching and/or Hairdressing & Beauty qualifications.

Complete Teacher Active's safeguarding and compliance requirements before commencing the placement.
