Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Permanent Veterinary Surgeon at Manor Vets, Shirley

Up to £65,000 (DOE)

Relocation allowance of up £5000 (pro rata)

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

As a proud member of Inspiring Vet Care, we’re excited to be welcoming applications for a permanent vet to join our fantastic Shirley practice.

The role offers a varied and interesting caseload, providing plenty of opportunities to develop your clinical skills across a broad range of areas. This includes routine procedures, non-routine surgeries such as mass excisions and exploratory operations, diagnostic work-ups including ultrasound and X-rays, cardiology investigations, dentistry (with dental X-rays due to be reinstalled soon), as well as emergency and inpatient care.

Alongside this, you’ll enjoy a varied consultation caseload, with a mix of morning and evening 15-minute appointments. Dedicated clinical administration time is also available, allowing you to focus on more complex cases that require further investigation and a thorough clinical work-up.

Ideally, we're looking for someone to join us on full-time hours, covering 40 hours per week over 4 days. There's also 1:4 Saturdays (08:30- 12:30). There are no out of hours or on-call required in this position. We can also consider part time applicants.

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Our wonderful Shirley team consists of two vets, one Head RVN, three RVNs, one VCA and two receptionists. We’re also proud to have a certificate holder in Cardiology on our team, and one of our nurses is currently undertaking their anaesthesia certificate, too. Shirley is well equipped with a fantastic range of facilities and equipment, including ultrasound, dental X-ray, isoflurane anaesthesia, an in-house laboratory, access to CT, a laparoscopic kit and orthopaedic equipment.

"I started with Manor in 2021 when I qualified. I started working at Colebrook in 2022, as I fell in love with the team and the clients. The practice had a full referb a few years ago and looks professional and spacious. My favourite room is the vets room, as there's lots of space to focus on CPD and collaborate during our clinical clubs' discussions.

The team are like a second family and always happy to welcome new ideas from everyone, management is always on hand to listen to our concerns and we have great communication. The work is rewarding and knowing you have a great team around you has encouraged me to start a certificate within anaesthesia." Katee - RVN

Shirley is a fantastic place to live, offering a welcoming community with a mix of suburban charm and convenient amenities. With a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants and green spaces nearby, there’s plenty to enjoy locally. Its close proximity to Solihull and good transport links to Birmingham also make it an ideal location for those looking to enjoy a balance of peaceful living and easy access to the city.

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon…
