Trainee Automotive Mechanic / Service Technician – Solihull
Here at Tesla, our technicians are the backbone of our Service operation. As the newest member of Tesla’s flagship Service Technician Traineeship Programme, you’ll play a key part in supporting us in our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. You will help ensure our vehicles are repaired and maintained to a high standard for our customers.

1st February 2026 - Duration: 12 months

Full‑time, shift based (includes weekend work)
The programme is delivered through world‑class training from Tesla technical trainers. Emphasis is on practical skills, on‑the‑job learning, and a hands‑on approach that builds your career foundation as a Tesla Technician.

The recruitment process consists of a short online questionnaire, a telephone screening call, and a final interview with the local team.
What You’ll Do- Learn and understand how to perform basic inspections, repairs & maintenance of Tesla vehicles
- Always follow safety protocols & maintain professionalism
- Learn efficiently in a fast‑paced hybrid training schedule
- Manage multiple priorities, workloads, and deadlines
- Pass the mid‑point & end‑point programme assessments to graduate
You will also study technical modules such as Chassis, Body, Glazing, Electrical, Infotainment, Driver Assistance Systems, Drivetrain, Thermal Systems, Vehicle Inspection and Service. Enrichment weeks let you experience other Tesla functions to broaden your skillset.
What You’ll Bring- An NVQ or IMI diploma in vehicle maintenance or prior vehicle repair experience
- Full UK or EU driving licence held for at least 1 year by the start date
- Eagerness to embrace a fast‑paced hands‑on training programme
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Safety‑first attitude
- Strong multitasker with proven problem‑solving abilities
- Professional representation of Tesla in all interactions
- Willingness to travel to other Tesla offices or events when required
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings
- Not in full‑time education when the programme starts
