As a Housing Options Advisor, you will be at the heart of the service, acting as the first point of contact for individuals and families at risk of homelessness.

You will provide proactive advice, support and early intervention to help prevent homelessness wherever possible.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Managing housing and homelessness enquiries via telephone, email and face-to-face
• Completing initial assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to determine customer needs
• Using negotiation and mediation skills to work with landlords, families and other parties to prevent homelessness
• Carrying out community and property visits to assess the suitability of temporary accommodation
• Supporting the wider team with housing applications, case management and general casework
• Providing high-quality, customer-focused housing advice and support

• Proven experience within Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or a Housing Association environment
• Strong working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
• Valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle - essential for community/property visits
• Ability to work on a hybrid basis, spending 2-3 days per week in the office
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong empathy, negotiation and problem-solving abilities
