Elementary Classroom Instructional Assistant (Aide) – Part Time
This is a part‑time position. Monday‑Friday afternoons approximately 11:30 am – 3:00 pm. Exact times will be determined by the Principal.
Pay begins at $19.49/hour.
Position: Instructional/Non‑Instructional Aide

Salary Schedule
- High school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
- Show evidence of demonstrated teaching, educational skills and interest in students and their education.
- Ability to communicate and deal with students, teachers and the public in a congenial and positive manner.
- Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Acceptable standards of emotional stability, moral character, sound health and be physically able to perform necessary job responsibilities.
- Pleasant and dignified classroom manner, neat in appearance and ability to adjust to change.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Contract: As per Board Agreement.
Work Days: Instructional Aides work the school calendar for students.
Responsible To: Classroom Teacher and Building Principal
Supervises: N/A
ResponsibilitiesTo assist the teachers in providing a well‑organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
- Assist in preparation of classroom activities.
- Work with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by teachers.
- Assist individual students in need of special attention.
- Perform routine clerical duties as requested and directed by teachers.
- Guide independent student, enrichment work and remedial work set up by teachers.
- Assist and set up media equipment, software and supplies.
- Assist teachers with non‑instructional duties as required.
- Assist teachers in checking workbooks, notebooks, correcting papers and supervising testing and make‑up work.
- Assist in drill work.
- Assist with reading, storytelling, etc.
- Assist small groups of students in the media resource center.
- Participate in professional growth and in‑service training programs.
- Assist teachers in duties relating to the supervision of playground, study hall, cafeteria, bus loading activities, etc.
- Assist teachers in cataloguing instructional materials and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Perform such other duties as requested by the certified teacher and Building Principal.
