Overview
Swagelok invites a Sr. Development Supplier Engineer to join the Solon, Ohio team. The role operates first shift with a focus on supplier quality, NDT programs, and continuous improvement across assigned commodities.
Responsibilities- Plans, organizes, and manages supplier quality development strategy activities.
- Develops positive relationships with suppliers and represents Swagelok to executive management.
- Performs audits of existing suppliers, including desk audits, site audits, and annual assessments, and communicates results.
- Conducts supplier selection activities and completes related documentation.
- Identifies and influences improvement activities at suppliers to pursue perfect quality.
- Initiates and facilitates resolution of problems related to Swagelok specifications or methods.
- Participates in establishing and maintaining procedures, processes, and specifications related to assigned commodities and suppliers.
- Executes the Qualified Supplier Process program by providing training and approving supplier packages.
- Coordinates gauge or process capability studies, first article inspections, validation plans, and evaluation requests as needed.
- Leads technical input for strategic sourcing projects, including assessment of supplier capability and specification review.
- Manages medium to large department level projects intended to develop or improve systems and processes.
- Trains and develops suppliers in sound engineering and quality principles.
- Provides direct internal support regarding performance, capability, application, and inspection methods for supplied product.
- Leads technical discussions with suppliers to identify and implement improvements in products and processes.
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, technical or quality-related field required; advanced problem‑solving training preferred (SPC, DOE).
Experience – 5+ years in manufacturing process design and development, quality planning or engineering, or quality control supervision. ASQ‑CQE preferred. ISO/QS9000 implementation or auditing experience preferred.
Skills & Knowledge – Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel); advanced statistical data analysis; proficiency in metrology and inspection methods;
Lean and Total Quality concepts; preventive control planning and process validation; disciplined problem solving and quality and manufacturing systems auditing.
- ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards compliance.
- Domestic and international travel less than 10% of the time.
