Lead HVAC Mechanic

Position Summary
Performs maintenance, repairs and installation of all heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment and units throughout the hospital facility. Takes direction from the Chief Engineer to effectively prioritize work orders for HVAC and refrigeration. Provides direction to HVAC Mechanics and develops work plans.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Exhibits advanced knowledge of HVAC systems and can perform the functions of a mechanic. Performs general repairs on mechanical systems.
• Ability to independently plan work assignments and effectively provide direction to others as needed
• Inspects and operates HVAC equipment, air conditioners, heat pumps, etc. for proper functioning.
• Maintains and repairs HVAC equipment: fan motors, electrical connections, thermostat gauges, pressure cutouts, etc.
• Installs new HVAC equipment and air conditioning equipment. Mounts compressor and condenser units. Connects tubing, solders joints and installs wiring and controls, etc.
• Troubleshoots electrical malfunctions in HVAC equipment.
• Performs maintenance on all HVAC equipment.
• Performs basic repairs to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hospital beds and stretchers and documents accordingly
• Order supplies materials and maintenance
• Tests equipment for proper operation and working condition
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

• High School or Vo-Tech Graduate or equivalent experience
• Universal Refrigeration certification required
• 10 years of HVAC Mechanic experience

Salary Range: $27.15 - $39.38 hourly
