Overview
This position is a temporary status for new employees while they:
- Attend and satisfactorily complete the Basic Course in Applied Police Science (BCAPS, basic police academy), and
- Acquire a Texas Peace Officer’s License by taking and passing the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing exam.
After passing the academy and the TCOLE test, the employee will be promoted to the Police Officer position and will normally work on a probationary status while in the academy and for one year after swearing in date with the City of Grapevine Police Department.

Schedule:
- Step A: $38.90/hour;
Approximately $80,912.00 annually - Step B: $40.85/hour;
Approximately $84,968.00 annually - Step C: $42.89/hour;
Approximately $89,211.20 annually - Step D: $45.03/hour;
Approximately $93,662.40 annually - Step E: $47.29/hour;
Approximately $98,363.20 annually - Step F: $49.66/hour;
Approximately $ annually - Step G: $50.65/hour;
Approximately $ annually
The Police Recruit will attend BCAPS at a local accredited training facility that has been approved by the Chief of Police.
The Police Recruit must pass all written and physical tests to satisfactorily complete the course.
The Police Recruit will adhere to the rules and regulations of the Grapevine Police Department, City of Grapevine, and the training facility.
The Police Recruit must attend all courses related to the BCAPS program. Any absence from the course must be approved by the Police Recruit’s designed supervisor and should not exceed 5% of the required attendance.
The Police Recruit must pass the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing exam.
Any time spent between the date of hire and the beginning of the BCAPS program will include internal policy and procedure training and other duties as scheduled by the Grapevine Police Department.
