Licensed Practical Nurse; LPN-IA Float Pool

Job Summary

As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to:

The Director of their assigned department.

Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.

Current LPN License to practice in the State of Kentucky or an active-current multistate license.

BLS and NIHSS with 90 days of hire.

• 2 Years of acute care nursing required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

• Under the direction of an RN or Med‑Surge Charge Nurse, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient’s status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

Position serves both internal co‑workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors. Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
