Education and License

Education:

Associate's Degree in Nursing required (current RN license in state of practice).

p>License/

Certifications:

Current RN license in state of practice; BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire.

Department/Unit Summary

• Monday - Friday position, with limited weekend requirements.
• Limited call – one night call every other week, and one weekend call rotating through entire department (usually works out to be every 10-12 weeks).
• Phase 1 recovery – recover patient for 30 minutes to one hour, then send to Phase 2 and hand off to another nurse.
• Phase 2 recovery – go over discharge paperwork with family member, give patient snack and medicine. Free to discharge if they meet requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have a current state RN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.

Position Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Reports to the Director of Surgery.

Patient Populations Served:
Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
