Contract Type: Long-term maternity cover

Salary: £95 £ 120 per day (dependent on experience)

Working Pattern: Full-time (part-time considered)

Teacher Active is working in partnership with secondary schools in Taunton and the surrounding areas to appoint a reliable and skilled Food Technician for a long-term maternity cover
, starting February 2026
.

This role offers continuity, stability, and the opportunity to become an integral part of a school department for the duration of the cover.

• Preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for Food Technology lessons

• Ensuring the food rooms are clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards

• Supporting teaching staff during practical lessons

• Managing stock levels and ordering supplies where required

• Following COSHH
  , completing risk assessments, and maintaining food hygiene standards

• Have previous experience as a Food Technician or in a food-based environment

• Hold relevant health and safety certifications
  , including Food Hygiene (Level 2 or above)

• Have a strong understanding of COSHH and safe food preparation practices

• Are organised, reliable, and able to commit to a long-term placement

• Are comfortable working within a secondary school environment

• A long-term maternity cover position in Taunton
