SEND Tutors, Mentors & Support Workers - Yeovil, SomersetIMPORTANT:
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for these opportunities.

Quantum Scholars is expanding its Alternative Provision services across Somerset and is looking to build a strong network of SEND Tutors, Mentors, LSAs, Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Pastoral Support Staff, and SEND Support Workers across Yeovil and the surrounding area ahead of anticipated growth from September 2026.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who are passionate about supporting young people who may be struggling to access mainstream education. This role may also appeal to classroom teachers seeking a change from traditional school settings or supply teachers looking for more flexible and personalised work.

The learners we support often present with a range of needs including SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, medical needs, behavioural challenges, and school avoidance. Through personalised 1:1 support, tutors and mentors have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to a young person's confidence, engagement, and long-term outcomes.

What the Role Involves

Support may include:

  • 1:1 tuition and mentoring
  • SEND-focused intervention work
  • Academic and emotional support
  • EOTAS and Alternative Provision programmes

Most sessions take place in-person within a student's home or a suitable community setting, allowing support to be tailored to individual needs. While the majority of opportunities are face-to-face, there may occasionally be opportunities for online tuition.

As referral numbers increase, we are looking to establish a reliable local team who are interested in ongoing opportunities throughout the academic year.

Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel within Yeovil and surrounding areas

Driving and access to a vehicle would be highly beneficial.

What We Offer
  • Flexible opportunities around your availability
  • Ongoing referrals and long-term opportunities
  • Meaningful work supporting vulnerable young people
  • Face-to-face and occasional online assignments
  • Competitive rates, dependent on experience
