Freelance Senior Engineer Major Infrastructure Project | Near Failand, Bristol | Long-Term Contract

The Opportunity

This is a serious Senior Engineer role on a flagship infrastructure scheme near Failand, Bristol, offering long-term continuity of work (3+ years) and real responsibility.

The project is well underway and entering key delivery phases, requiring an experienced Freelance Senior Engineer to help drive programme, coordinate teams and maintain high standards across site delivery.

The Project

A large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure and public realm scheme including:
 
New build major roads
Section 278 works
Bulk and detailed earthworks
Drainage networks
Hard landscaping
Lakes and ponds
Underground car park  A technically varied job with multiple interfaces and a long programme — no short-term firefighting.

The Role

As Senior Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for the coordination and control of engineering and subcontractor activities, acting as a key link between site delivery, the client and the commercial team.

Key duties will include:
 
Managing and mentoring Site Engineers
Coordinating and supervising subcontractors
Leading and contributing to monthly progress meetings
Direct client liaison and technical interface
Writing, reviewing and managing RAMS
Liaising closely with the commercial team on progress, change and forecasts
Short-term planning and coordination of works
Supporting site management to drive programme, quality and safety  This is a leadership role with genuine influence on how the project is delivered.

About You

This role suits a proven Senior Engineer with strong infrastructure experience.

You’ll bring:
 
Local to Bristol - no subsistence on offer
Experience working as a Senior Engineer on major civils or infrastructure projects - highways and roads
Strong leadership and communication skills
Experience managing engineers and subcontractors
Confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders
Solid understanding of H&S, quality and construction sequencing
A proactive, organised and delivery-focused mindset  Rate & Engagement  
£400 – £425 per day
Outside IR35 - CIS or Ltd Company accepted
Long-term role on a well-run project
